Snow removal equipment — blades, blowers, snow removers

For a typical commercial lot (50 to 300 spaces), an 8 to 10-foot push blade mounted on a wheel loader is the standard: it moves large volumes fast without damaging the asphalt. For narrower lanes or areas with obstacles (light poles, islands), a 6 to 8-foot blade on a Schäffer articulated loader offers more maneuverability. Folding snow wings boost pushing capacity by 30 to 50% on large surfaces. All our blades are available for sale or seasonal rental.

The sidewalk snow remover (like our Benco-Schäffer 3650MAX and 4670MAX) is a compact, narrow carrier machine built to run on sidewalks: it takes several attachments (blower, blade, broom, spreader) and works year-round. The snow blower is the attachment that throws the snow — it mounts on the snow remover, a loader or a tractor. If you have a municipal sidewalk contract, you need the carrier machine; if you already have a loader, a blower attachment is often enough.

Ideally between June and September. Snow removal contracts are signed in the fall, and our seasonal rental fleet (November to April) goes fast — sidewalk snow removers are usually all booked before mid-October. Booking early also leaves time for preparation: inspection, attachments matched to your surfaces, and operator training if needed. For purchases, ordering before September avoids peak delivery lead times.

We sell and rent Erskine salt spreaders in several formats: hopper spreaders for loaders and sidewalk snow removers, and broadcast spreaders for smaller surfaces. We don't supply the salt or abrasive itself, but we'll refer you to local suppliers in Montérégie based on your area. All our spreaders are compatible with the quick couplers on our Schäffer loaders and Benco-Schäffer snow removers.

The simple rule: if the equipment runs more than 300 hours per winter or you have recurring contracts over 3 years and up, buying pays off (financing available). Below that, seasonal rental (November to April) avoids tying up capital, summer storage and maintenance. Many of our contractor clients combine both: buying their main machine plus renting extra units during peak periods or for new contracts not yet confirmed.
